I’ve been a fan of linux since Red Hat ver 7. I used it on my previous work as a radius authentication server for those good old dial-up ISP way back 2001.
A lot has changed from Linux, I am using Ubuntu - fiesty fawn edition since its release and don’t have a hard time installing it. As far as my experience is concerned, I have no problem on Video display, Audio, my HP printer, webcam, internet, usb flash disk and all other pheriperals connected to my rig.
Startup screen of Ubuntu .
Good part is that there are so many support on softwares that are ready for download from editing video, editing audio, playing movies and mp3’s.
I already tried using wifi feature of Ubuntu using notebook and I have no problem connecting on hotspots area in the city. One thing for sure on Linux platform is that seldom no virus threatened this system - Almost none on my part - Great!
Almost all format of file extensions are applicable to ubuntu.. Even .exe file! Just use Windows emulator like Cedega or Wine.
Linux surely starts to evade desktop based computers and not just for servers anymore and it is more user friendly and is adapting windows based environment less blue screen of death! BSOD.

Aside from Ubuntu as my primary OS I am still using Windows XP. Dual boot system.7
